This is a tough question to answer, but I feel a very valuable one to sit down and really mull over.
What’s your “Why?” What is that strong purpose, cause or belief that you are running towards in your life?
You may know what you want to do in your life, and how you might get there. But, do you truly know WHY you want it all in the first place?
What are all the things you are doing in your life right now to support your “Why?”
For me, a big part of my “Why” at Epic Fitness is to build up a community of strong and resilient people that want to get 1% better each and every day, and become the best possible versions of themselves.
I see it every day at Epic Fitness. The stories of strength and resilience. Members reaching milestones of being able to perform not only athletic feats, but also gaining strength in the gym that translates to strength outside in all the things they love to do.
But why, why show up for yourself in the gym day after day, and week after week? Wouldn’t it be easier to quit or just give up. Yes, that would be easy. But it sure wouldn’t be useful in guiding you towards the strongest version of you.
I absolutely love this quote from Tony Robbins:
“The point of change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.”
At some point, we all have this realization. One of the strongest movers of change occurs when we are in some form of pain.
9 years ago when I was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia, my why completely changed for me personally. I wanted to be strong enough to not only beat my battle with cancer, but also be a strong example to my children what hard work and dedication looks like on a daily basis to battle and beat a disease like that and thrive.
I had to make a lot of changes in my life. But the pain of staying the same (long work hours, not taking care of myself, lack of sleep, lack of good nutrition) was greater than the pain of change I knew I needed to make.
Just remember this when you tell yourself “I am not motivated today to workout.” Dig a little deeper, remember your “Why” and realize that you share the identity of the type of person that loves what a healthy body feels like.
Shaping that identity of yourself on a daily basis will help you get closer and closer to that person you want to become.
I hope this was useful, and gets you 1% closer to that person you are striving to become!
Is the pain of staying the same right now for you greater than the pain of change? We would love to be a part of your transformation.
